When faith calls, you’ve got to go. Pietro, a young adjunct university professor, finds himself guiding a group of mismatched pilgrims to the shrine in San Giovanni Rotondo for the first time. During the stops on the tour, where everything happens according to a time table of guided visits to churches, statues of saints, and souvenir shops, each person seems to find their own way. Pietro’s path, previously cynically clear, blurs, leaving him almost lost. The simple story is a metaphor for a generation stuck between trying to get their lives to take off and giving up, withdrawing. The film is a reflection on the spoils of religion, on our country, in our time.
